2021 was a challenging but fantastic year for this business. The very idea of Custom Patch Hats Canada was thought of somewhere around this time one year ago, and about two and a half months later things started to come to life with just one hat press and handful of ambition.
Over the course of 2021 from the first order placed on March 11 right up to December 31 this company made over 2000 custom patch hats for businesses across Canada and I personally could not be more satisfied! All this starting out very part time and while facing what very well may be the largest supply chain disruptions the industry, and quite frankly the world, have faced in many years.
The Custom Patch Hats Canada name has served this business well over the past nine months, but after much consideration, many internal debates, and a handful of confused inquiries between Custom Patch Hats Canada and a USA based company with a nearly identical name I have decided that now is the time to retire the Custom Patch Hats Canada name and reintroduce this big beautiful country to Sausage Dog Hat Co.
Now I’ll insert a little side note here for those of you who are thinking “why on earth would you name your company that?!”. Well to keep it brief I also own a company by the name of Sausage Dog Promo Co. selling custom printed apparel and promotional products for businesses of all kinds. Sausage Dog Hat Co. was a logical choice in keeping things consistent across multiple related brands, plus I just really like the name.
Continuing forward the businesses will operate as one but be marketed under two separate names - Sausage Dog Hat Co. for all jobs related to the production of custom patch hats, and Sausage Dog Promo Co. for custom apparel printing and promotional products.
Back in March of 2021 the only products offered were embroidered patches, woven patches, and leatherette patches heat applied to trucker hats and similar structured and unstructured hat styles. Since then the business has expanded to include sew on application which has allowed for the opportunity to vastly grow the product offerings to include knit headwear such as toques and beanies, as well as new embellishment styles like woven labels, sublimated patches, PVC patches, and more.
Heading into 2022 the plan is to continue working on a strategy to tackle the ongoing supply chain issues in the hat industry by building an inventory and finding alternative suppliers, brands, and styles of headwear to fulfill orders with the smallest amount of disruptions as possible. I am personally also working on finding ways to lower, or at the very least stabilize prices in a world of rising supply costs by refining and simplifying processes, increasing production times and capacity, and reducing whatever supply costs I can without sacrificing the high quality products and services that customers have come to expect.
Whether you are a past customer, someone thinking about placing an order, one of my wonderful suppliers, or just someone interested in the industry and following along because it is something that you enjoy, Sausage Dog Hat Co. would certainly not be where it is today, and for that I thank you! I look forward to serving the great customers of this business, building new relationships, and making more hats than I had ever imagined possible in the years to come!
Thank you for following along and here’s to 2022, and beyond!
Jake Moroun, Owner - Sausage Dog Hat Co. & Sausage Dog Promo Co.
